With our very first furnace powered entirely by clean energy now installed at our factory in Adelaide, Australia, we’ve taken another step to increase the proportion of renewable energy used in our operations from 60% globally in 2023.
The new $3.5 million furnace installed in 2024 also takes us closer to our goal of net-zero emissions across our entire value chain by 2050.
The Adelaide factory produces approximately 350,000 ovens every year to service the Australian and New Zealand markets with exports to North America, the Middle East, South Africa and the Asia Pacific region. Reaching temperatures of up to 900oC, the new furnace is a key part of the appliance enameling process. Its overall performance reduces energy consumption by approximately 70% (compared with the plant’s previous gas-powered furnace).
The furnace investment complements the installation of over 8,000 solar panels to the factory, which is also Zero Waste to Landfill certified by a third party, meaning less than 1% of its waste is sent to landfill.
We’ll continue the work to reduce our footprint by running efficient operations all around the world.
