Goal: Make the home a healthier place to thrive in, with half the carbon footprint

We aim to spearhead solutions by 2030, leveraging adaptive technologies, new business models and inspiration for smarter consumer habits that contribute to healthier homes with half the carbon footprint.

Better home environment

Poor air quality has become a widespread risk to human health. According to the UN, 92% of people live in places where pollution exceeds recommended limits. While we spend much of our time indoors — on average, about 16 hours a day* — this only makes matters worse. Due to inadequate ventilation and floor hygiene, the concentration of harmful pollutants indoors can often be up to five times higher than outdoors.* This doesn’t have to be the case. And we can undertake efforts to improve people’s wellbeing at home.

Our focus areas

To guide us towards our goal, we’re going to fast-track the rollout of solutions in all markets – enabling more people to sustainably benefit from comfortable temperatures as well as fewer particles in the air, in the water, and on surfaces. Our focus areas for better home environment are:

Inspiring more sustainable habits in caring for your home

Maximize the wellbeing of the sanctuary that is the consumer's home.

At Electrolux Group, we are committed to helping people maximize the wellbeing of the sanctuary that is their home. Achieving this requires the tearing down of walls: those separating people’s desires from their actions because of an “effort” gap.

That’s why we are determined to create solutions that are so effortless that making sustainable and healthy choices in one’s everyday life is more than easy: it’s enjoyable.

We will continue providing effective solutions for air, water, and floor cleanliness that lower the barriers for sustainable and better living, and we will aim to inspire rewarding home care habits that deliver wellbeing from wall to wall.

When it comes to innovation, we’ll continue to advance our smart solutions – such as air monitoring and optimization systems that adapt to users’ living behaviors – and we’ll explore new ways to connect with and customize such products.

Pioneer knowledge and new standards for a healthier home environment

Drive societal change that will improve the home environment for people around the world.

As a company renowned for being sustainability leaders in manufacturing as well as being a company that produces domestic appliances, we are in a unique position to drive societal change that will improve the home environment for people around the world.

We are committed to using our voice in this domain to elevate awareness about issues of indoor air, water and floor hygiene. We want to be pioneers by asking the right questions, getting some answers, and finding out what more we need to know to ensure wellbeing at home is broadly accessible and actionable.

In addition to engaging with researchers, we will put industry standards under the microscope and explore whether legislative change should be called for.

Importantly, we will strive to share what we know and what we come to learn – because the more the world understands the need for better conditions at home, the more progress we can make, together, in spreading knowledge, sustainable habits and innovative technologies to help realize sustainable and optimized wellbeing in more people’s homes.

Enable wellbeing at home with reduced environmental impact

Minimize the impact of our solutions in such a way that home comfort and care for the environment doesn't become a trade-off.

While most agree that heating and cooling appliances help create a sense of wellbeing in the home environment, it doesn’t come without a cost. We know that such appliances are contributing to global warming.

For that reason, Electrolux Group is determined to minimize that impact, such that clean air and more comfortable temperatures inside the home don’t have to become a trade-off with the wellbeing of our wider home: the environment.

We want people to know that how they choose to cool or heat makes a difference. We want to show them how to optimize indoor climate for individual needs with a lower energy impact. At the same time, we will continue pursuing research into temperature control technology to ensure we’re bringing such advances into people’s homes.

To take this a step further, we’ve submitted a phase-out plan to the UN’s Cool Coalition initiative, pledging to replace high-impact greenhouse gases in all of our appliances with lower-impact gases.

Better Living in 2030

As we look towards 2030, for one of our latest actions we have turned to the very people who will be setting up their own homes between now and then: the youth of today.

In 2021, we conducted a study with almost 14,000 young people – asking them to share their views on sustainable living now and in the future.

We also assembled a Team of Change-Makers, where a group of young people eager to drive positive change are sharing a forum with established change-makers and key figures at Electrolux Group, with the aim of exploring better solutions for tomorrow.

Better Living action plan

The Better Living action plan by Electrolux Group is a range of actions to support our goals within the domains of better eating, better clothing care, and better wellbeing at home. It also encompasses how Electrolux Group can better its own operations. If you have any questions, please write to us at: sustainability@electrolux.com
