Publish an annual study into the environmental impact of European laundry habits

The Truth About Laundry is our annual study where we ask 14 000 people across Europe about their laundry behaviors. This gives us powerful insights to drive change.

Small changes, big differences

We know that household appliances account for almost 30% of global energy consumption in the home*. And we also know that approximately 85% of the environmental impact of an appliance, during its life cycle, is generated when it is in use**. This means improving and sharing our knowledge of product usage is crucial if we are to continue to develop efficient appliances that save energy throughout their lifespan in people’s homes.

The Truth About Laundry is our annual study first launched in 2021 that polls 14,000 adults across 14 European countries to give us a better understanding of why, when, and how people launder their clothes and to what extent people consider the environment when taking care of their clothes.

Through powerful insights, we can create technologies that encourage sustainable clothing care habits. If millions of people make small changes, these add up to big differences.
